SUMMER SPECTACULAR
Oh, what a night, what a night it was! The TAPAS hosted Summer Spectacular was just that - spectacular. After a warm welcome to the over 100 guests from Betty Ross, TAPAS Chair, the musical event was expertly kicked off by Déjà Vu, a great combo of electric guitars and vocals echoing the sound of the 60's. The big surprise of the night was the performance from the first choir, Coro LGTBI Torremolinos; an all-male group singing popular Spanish songs under the baton of James Burn. Their romantic and tuneful music brought the audience to their feet and into their hearts. The TAPAS Choir on next has the good fortune to have the same excellent Musical Director. James led the choir in a variety of songs from the 70's through to the 90's, culminating in a brilliant medley of ABBA songs arranged by James, with the Coro LGTBI joining in at the end with the Spanish version of "Gimme, gimme, gimme, a man after midnight" or "Dame, dame, dame amor esta noche". Again, enthusiastically appreciated by the audience, especially the colourful 80's costumes dreamt up by many choir members. The night concluded with Boogie Wonderland, a vocal trio specialising in lively disco music accompanied by great encouragement and contagious sound.
Held in the Club House of Alhaurin Golf, The evening was experly MC'd by "Big Al". There were several lucky winners of the beautifully prepared baskets of goodies raffled during the evening. Food was available from the Club's kitchen during the early part of the evening and the bar was open for everyone to enjoy throughout. TAPAS's major goal to support charities was fullfilled by collecting in excess of €500 for this year's organisations, Centro Fahala and Ukraine Aid.
A big THANK YOU from T.A.P.A.S.(The Andalucia Performing Arts Society) to all of you who attended the event, who helped to organise it and who participated in the entertainment.

Sauvignon or Pinot Gris?
Camembert or Brie?
TAPAS members have FUN supporting local charities at their Annual Cheese and Wine event.
TAPAS members and their guests had a fabulous time at their Annual Charity CHEESE AND WINE QUIZ. In glorious sunshine, the event was hosted by members Trish and Mike in their beautiful gardens at Coin.
Guests worked their way through guessing a Rioja from a Shiraz, a Pinot Gris from a Sauvignon and many more. There were some tricky 'cheesey' questions too…. who would know the most expensive cheese came from Donkey Milk?
There was determined competitive fever seen in the tastings. After feasting on a range of different types of cheese and varied wines, the competition finished with gallant winners and respectable scores.
“Lots of fun and we pulled out the culinary stops for this event” said TAPAS Chair Betty Ross, who went on to add “We have not been able to hold many events for a while due to restrictions, so we were especially delighted to kick off this year’s fundraising with €150 today for local charities. It was a lovely afternoon and just what everyone needed.”
Social distancing was observed. “No cheeses were harmed during the proceedings, although a couple of strong ones left a lingering aroma in the kitchen”, said organizers Angela and Trish.
