Lennon & McCartney event
TAPAS IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS…..
TAPAS (The Andalucia Performing Arts Society) held an amazing Summer
Extravaganza in Alhaurin el Grande on Friday 7th July, to showcase the music of
Lennon and McCartney. Over-subscribed within a week of tickets going on sale,
168 guests were lucky enough to attend the prestigious event hosted by much
loved and renowned London couturier Brian Piccolo at his beautiful private
estate.
A selection of Lennon and McCartney songs were specially arranged for the
TAPAS choir by talented Musical Director James Burn. The choir was most
fortunate to be accompanied by James on piano, and by classical guitarist Zion
Uliel bringing a different authentic vibe to the overall sound. The audience
thoroughly enjoyed the performance, lavishing its praise on the quality of the
choir’s performance.
The Choir was also joined on stage with performances by solo artists, notably
our host himself Brian Piccolo, Helen Rush (a TAPAS member) and popular
entertainer Tony Whitehouse, who all added their own flavour and variety to
the evening’s showcase.
Guests were welcomed on arrival with complimentary chilled cava and canapés,
followed by a superb summer buffet served at the mid-point of the evening,
with drinks flowing from the bar until midnight.
Each year TAPAS gives its support to a very deserving local charity, the
incredible Asociación Huellas Terapéuticas selected as this year’s benefactor.
Based in Coin ,the organisation rescues abandoned dogs and retrains them as
therapy dogs to work with children with special needs. They also provide
support to the elderly in local care homes, especially those with dementia.
We were honoured to welcome along to the event the Association’s president
Antonio Jose Solano Jimenez and members of his dedicated team, who
expressed their deepest gratitude for the patronage of TAPAS and its supporters.
We were delighted to have raised an impressive 1,800 euros for the association
on the night.
Guests left the extravaganza keen to secure tickets to the coming winter gala
event (details yet to be released on the TAPAS Facebook page) having been
treated to a thoroughly enjoyable evening of fabulous musical talent, wonderful
food, plentiful drinks and superb company & surroundings.
A great success for TAPAS and Asociación Huellas Terapéuticas!
