Tuesday Night Is Choir Night !
If you always thought you might like to sing, but never had the opportunity, come along on a Tuesday night. Absolutely NO audition needed, the only ability you need is to enjoy singing and have a good sense of humour!
The Tapas Choir
Choir Leader:
Jane Busby was a student of the Italia Conti stage school in London, and a member of various drama groups, choral societies and choirs before leaving the UK. She has produced and directed productions in the UK and here in Spain for TAPAS, notably ‘The Old Time Music Hall’ and ‘Thanks for the Memories’. Jane has been the Choir leader since 2008.
Choir secretary:
One of the very first members of TAPAS, Lynda Powell has a leading role on the TAPAS committee as Secretary. She is also the Wardrobe Mistress, running the vast Wardrobe department.
Lynda has sung in the Choir since its inception and has recently taken on the position of Choir Secretary.
The choir rehearses every Tuesday at 6.30pm at Restaurante Los Arcos on the main Coin/Cartama road. For a map and directions click here.
We are a very friendly choir, currently with around 30 members; all you need to join the choir is a love of singing and a willingness to attend rehearsals.
Our formula is unique, learning by rote (repetition, not sheet music) it’s all about singing to the best of your ability, with energy and passion.
No auditions are necessary, just a heartfelt desire to sing and enjoy yourself!
We’re looking for enthusiastic people of any singing ability.
To join the choir or to come and try singing with us, just turn up at a Tuesday night rehearsal, you will be made very welcome, and you can sing with the choir for up to 2 weeks before committing yourself.
Our concerts raise money for TAPAS funds and we also support local charities.
Members pay a weekly subscription which contributes to expenses.
We have an eclectic selection in our portfolio of songs, so there is sure to be something for everyone!
We currently have opportunities for sopranos, tenors and bases.
