Welcome to the Drama Section of the T.A.P.A.S. Website.

Our aim is to present plays to the public of the highest standard and we love what we do. Whether you fancy coming to see one of our shows or joining our group, we reckon you will love it too.

It’s the people in our Group that make it great so if you’re interested in joining why not drop in and see us for a chat. Currently we meet on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4.00 to 6.30 pm at Los Arcos. Otherwise you can contact me on the email or telephone number below. We’re always on the hunt for new, enthusiastic, members so whether you fancy a leading role, small part  or to help backstage, we want to hear from you!

Although our main focus is on producing great shows, all our members thoroughly enjoy the friendly atmosphere that we rehearse and perform in, so please don’t feel worried about whether you’ll be made welcome – we’re not about ‘cliques’ or making new people feel uneasy, and the fact that every year we are gaining new members, means you’re not going to be the only new person, so fear not!

Who we’re looking for.

The main qualities we look for in new members are enthusiasm, energy and commitment.  If you think these qualities apply to you then get in touch, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

We also need people who can help with the production side of our shows.

If you have skills in technical areas, like lighting and sound, why not get in touch to see what opportunities we have coming up.

Auditions for our productions are always open to all-comers. So keep an eye out for details in our newsletters and this website.

However – what if you don’t have any particular skills or talents? Don’t worry. There are plenty of equally important ways in which you can support the Group and involve yourself in our activities.

Lee Lingwood
Theatre Director

Present Theatre Director: Leroy Lingwood studied drama at the Birmingham School of Speech Training and Dramatic Art and was the winner of the 1964 B.B.C. Drama Award which resulted in his working with the B.B.C. Drama repertory Company in London. He appeared in over five hundred Radio Plays but also worked in Television and the Theatre. He toured in ´Lock up Your Daughter and appeared in productions at Birmingham Rep. Co.  Belgrade Theatre, Coventry the Alexandra Theatre Birmingham and  the Television series ´United´and ´Dixon of Dock Green´.

Since leaving the profession he has directed over 30 productions for various Amateur Societies including TAPAS and Salon Varieties.
